Description Collection of Prints, Texas Navy

The packet includes a limited edition portfolio of fine prints published in 1979 in Austin, TX, by General Jay Matthews and his Presidial Press. The text was done by David B. Gracy II and Jean Carefoot. There is also a booklet which lists the officers and directors of the Texas Navy, a description of the Battle of Campeche, Memorable dates in Navy Annals, Examples of ships on the Republic of Texas paper money, a list why the Navy was Vital for Texas Freedom, and a Poem: "Some Say They Were Pirates." And lastly there is a yellow sheet which gives the biography of four artists highlighted in the packet.

.2) Booklet - Information listed above. The cover has a color print of "Landing Party, Republic of Texas Marines, 1836," by Bruce Marshall.
.3) Artist Biography - Includes information about Bruce Marshall, Emil Bunjes, Frank Karppi, and Don Davis.
.4) Illustrated cover for the other prints - The front has a print of "Galveston Coast Guards, Republic of Texas, 1842" and the back has a print of "Commodore/ Texas Navy, " both by Bruce Marshall.
.5) "The Ships of the Republic of Texas, 1836-1845" - A list of twelve ships which served in either the first or the second Texas Navy. The list includes the vessel, its original name, commissioned, complement, class, length, tonnage, guns, and disposition.
.6) "Independence" - Color print of the original pen and ink drawing by Emil Bunjes.
.7) "Brutus" - Color print of the original pen and ink drawing by Emil Bunjes.
.8) "Invincible" - Color print of the original pen and ink drawing by Emil Bunjes.
.9) "Liberty" - Color print of the original pen and ink drawing by Emil Bunjes.

.16) "Landing Party, Republic of Texas Marines, 1836" - Numbered print (42/500) which is signed in pencil by the artist. Small tear in the upper right, and a folded lower right corner. Good condition.
