Description Defense National. The sculpture is of a man dressed as a soldier with a sword in one and the pole of a flag in the other. He is dressed in a double breasted overcoat, pants and boots with a pistol and shot pouch. He has short, wavy hair and a curly beard. There is a woman standing behind the man in a long dress, barefoot, with a crown on her head and with one arm outstretched with a pointing finger. She is probably symbolic of victory or freedom. They are standing on a pile of rubble, including fence pieces, a cannon ball, etc. On square base section.
